In his first season in the Premier League, Walter Mazzarri had to deal with criticism about the way he speaks English and the uncertainty surrounding his job status. But the Tuscan coach is expected to stay at Watford next season, in fact he and the club have already started the planning for the 2017/18 campaign. The former Napoli and Inter manager will take an intensive English course and will run the team's summer retreat in Austria where multiple locations are being considered.
In the meantime Mazzarri was praised by a former Watford and Liverpool legend, this is what John Barnes had to say:"A while back I gave an interview in which I was told that because of his struggles with English, Mazzarri's status was being questioned, my answer was "He can get away with not speaking English as long as he keeps leading Watford where they currently are. Whatever he's doing, it's excellent work since Watford is in tenth place". So far this season Mazzarri has met all of the club's expectations, the team avoided relegation early and they have their most wins at Vicarage Road with eight. Mazzarri and Watford are expected to continue their journey together.
