UEFA President Aleksander Ceferin spoke with Corriere dello Sport to reinforce his position that leagues that decided to not start again will have consequences for not completing the season. His statement on this, and other, topics are below:
"I think that the majority of European leagues, let's say 80%, will finish the season. Those who don't, it's an autonomous decision, will need to play qualification matches if they want to participate in the next UEFA competitions. Even the European season will be completed, probably in August."
Ceferin also mentioned the "essential value" of Serie A, saying that Italy is "one of the great football countries." He added that public health is still the priority, but that "like all other sectors, we also have the right to begin again by respecting our commitments." Ceferin also stated that "the national and European competitions are physiologically linked and in Europe there must not be teams that hadn't won the leagues or national cups."
