After getting 9 points in 12 games and sitting in the bottom part of the Serie A table, Udinese decided to bring in a new coach in Davide Nicola. The former Crotone head coach, who replaced Velazquez on the Friulani bench, was presented by the club in his first press conference: "Many coaches made history here, like Guidolin. People who come here have the desire to challenge themselves with different cultures. I have not met the players yet, I have to see how they do in training to grasp their potential. I am here because I am very demanding of myseld and I need to spend much a lot of tume with my players to work in the best way", Nicola said.
The coach also discussed his playstyle and what he wants from his squad in order to bounce back after a rough period: "Football is about reading the game: you have to understand whent to attack and when to wait. I only ask one thing to my players, that is dedication and spirit of sacrifice. They have to work hard on the pitch to improve themselves. I strongly believe in my work, otherwise I wouldn't be a coach. I am certain that only hard work and dedication can produce good results, emotions also can be helpful. My goal is to create a connection with the players, so that I can get the best out of them and to bring the enthusiasm back", concluded the new coach.
