Swiss midfielder Valon Behrami discussed his new role as Udinese's captain in an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport: "When the transfer window closed, coach Velazquez told me that he wanted me to be the captain. This makes me proud, I am still very motivated". The 33-year old midfielder talked about his decision to retire from international football and the difference between Serie A and Premier League: "I feel Swiss even though we speak Albanian at home. On the 7th of August I received a phone call from Petkovic [Switzerland coach] and he said to me that I was not in his plans for the national team. "Let's see", he said. But I don't want to wait so I decided to stop, even thouhg I think this is not the right way to end it after 13 years. No misunderstandings, that's how it went.
"The difference between Serie A and Premier? The mentality. Here in Italy if you lose a game you can't go out of the stadium. In England they are more 'relaxed'. Serie A is a great league, also from a personal standpoint. When I joined West Ham they won't even say hello to me, but then at Watford it went better".
