Sebastian Giovinco spoke to La Gazzetto dello Sport ahead of the match between New York City and Toronto, where the teams of Pirlo and Giovinco will face in a 2nd leg for a chance to move to the MLS semi-final, Toronto is leading the tie 2-0. Giovinco spoke about the MLS playoffs, as well as pondering about a return to Italy. "It's not the first time this match has happened, but it is the first time in an elimination match, with such high stakes. One of us will go home after and I hope it won't be me. Playoffs? It's like the Coppa Italia or Champions League: same rules. The fact that the outcome can go one way or another is intriguing, but we all know that from the start. A return? At 29 you're surely in your prime and age is the greatest help in improving your mental levels. I feel like I am doing well where I am, but in football you can never say never. Italian teams? I can't say: you need to ask them. If somebody is considering me, I would like it. But nobody has gone ahead and done that, I swear. Return to the national team? Ventura hasn't called. It's too bad that the perception here is that you are playing at a lesser competition level. I respect the idea, even though naturally I don't agree. Every coach wants to win and has to make those decisions. Obviously, I hope that the call will come sooner or later. I have an ambition to return to the National team."
