Interview by Marco Bonomo

While his former boss Antonio Conte is getting most of the attention, Massimo Carrera has won the league title in Russia with Spartak Moscow. The former Juventus player and assistant manager was interview exclusively for GianlucaDiMarzio.com about his state of mind after clinching the title:"What would I have said last summer had someone told me? That it was impossible, unimaginable. I thought we would at the beginning of second half of the season, we were consistent and the others lost ground, by finding continuity I realized we could make it in the end. The win against Zenit is what gave us the confidence in our strength and made us win the league"

How did Carrera celebrate the win? "I was in an establishment with friends and my wife to watch Zenit's match. I felt some very strong emotione and I admit some tears came out. After the stress ends, you won, you can let yourself go. Then we contacted all the players on the team and we went to another place to celebrate together. I don't know what is customary in Russia but will be fun to find out"

What was the secret to the success? "The players played every match like if it was a final, giving 100% on the pitch. The fans understood this and stayed close to us. We were able to build a group with a winning mentality and especially had continuity: in years passed you would play one game well and others poorly, instead we created a positive streak. Having been at Juventus helps, it's a team used to winning and you acquire a winning mentality, that is the famous Juventus DNA: grit and competitiveness to win everything"
