Young goalkeeper Alex Meret is enjoying a good first season as first team player in the top flight. With him inbetween the sticks, SPAL can still hope to avoid relegation thanks to his saves, like the penalty saved to Politano against Sassuolo in last week's relegation six-pointer. "I had studied Politano before the game - SPAL goalkeeper on loan from Udinese says to Corriere dello Sport - I had seen that he had taken his last two penalties in the same way and I gambled. It turned out to be a good choice". Meret talked also about his future, between big clubs watching him closely and the national team: "I''m at the beginning of my career. I have to improve a lot and I work hard everyday to do so. The rumors of Napoli's interest in me are flattering, since it is a very important club. Right now there's only SPAL in my mind, we'll see about the future. Italy? I work every day to get better. I have ambitions of course, who doesn't. If I have a chance, I'll do my best to deserve it. Anyways, it is not my decision to make. There are a lot of other great keepers before me, like Donnarumma, Perin, Sirigu that have already some call-ups, or players like Cragno and Sportiello that are doing very well. Such competition is a good thing".
