For the second season in a row, SPAL have avoided relegation in Italy’s top division. The club’s sporting director Davide Vagnati was the protagonist of an interview with Sky Sport to discuss their recent success: “The most important thing is the unity between the parts . We have an agile structure with the Colombarini family which own the club, the president Mattioli and then there’s me who is in charge of the sporting area. We have clear ideas, a coaching staff which gave us great satisfaction and a city that is part of us and carries us during difficult moments”
Vagnati was asked about Manuel Lazzari’s future: “He’s a player that grew up with us, he was the first acquisition in C2 and he’s the symbol of our growth. I believe he deserves a significant opportunity. I hope that doesn’t happen but I’m convinced someone will take him away”
Vagnati discussed manager Semplici’s status at the club: “We have an excellent relationship, like all clubs we need to get together to discuss the future. He has another year on his contract and we can extend it another season”
