After five matches and three goals, Manolo Gabbiadini has started to gain popularity in England. After receiving compliments even from Mourinho, he spoke to La Gazzetta dello sport about his current situation.
“Everything is great, but I’m the first to keep my feet on the ground. Football is strange, out of nowhere you could be reaching for the stars, but just as fast you could collapse to the ground. I’d be lying if I said I didn’t expect this start. Here there’s less prudence, I was thrown in the mix after only a few training sessions”.
He returns to talk about his experience with Napoli: “I have to divide it into two sections: The first 6 months with Benitez went well. He used a scientific method to constantly change the squad over with cup matches and league fixtures. Things changed with the arrival of Sarri. He always plays the same guys, everyone else just has to sit and watch. It’s a different approach, but obviously in the long run the reserves can’t be happy”.
He continues: “I consider Sarri one of the best coaches I’ve ever worked with, but our relationship never had that initial spark. For me, sincerity and human relations come before anything; I appreciate people who tell you things to your face. I don’t consider Napoli a failure: When you score 25 goals in my conditions you have a clear conscience”.
