After collecting seven points in their first three matches, Sassuolo have to be satisfied with the start of the De Zerbi era. While the club sold key players like Acerbi and Politano during the summer, they were able to also acquire Kevin Prince Boateng to raise the bar. The former Milan midfielder talked about his club’s ambitions for the season during an interview with Gazzetta dello Sport:”I’m not here to just avoid relegation. Have you seen the first three matches? We are like this, we want to continue at this level. Facing Juventus? We have to play the perfect match to win and hope that they aren’t in top form. But we are a young team that is going to play for first place in one of Europe’s bets stadiums. What more could you want?”
Boateng was also asked why he’s off to such a strong start to the season:”With experience you learn how to manage yourself, now I don’t put so much pressure on myself, I stay in good shape and this allows me to play in a more advanced position even though I have to run more”
