"I'm looking for perfection": from his tumor to his return on the pitch, Francesco Acerbi is now one of the best defenders of Serie A. In an interview given to La Gazzetta dello Sport, he explains he got very close from Inter: "I decided I should leave Sassuolo and it seemed like a done deal with Inter but the situation got complicated and I haven't understand why. Then Zenit and Galatasaray cam with offers but I would have never strong armed Sassuolo: I've got great relationships with Squinzi and Carnevali. In the end I decided to stay and I'm happy about it. Sure, when I see Inter playing I'm telling myself "I could be there". That gives me one more motivation to play well with Sassuolo and deserve a bigger club, showing I'm not Milan's Acerbi anymore".
He also explains when he found out something wasn't right: "At Malaga. I started in Champions League and while listening to the anthem I didn't feel anything. I would have goosebumps now. When I see former teammates like Vrsaljko, Pellegrini and Defrel playing in Champions League I'm happy for them and wait for me to play there too".
In the end he also speaks about the Italian national team: "Ventura has called a lot of players but not me.. The experience with Conte was exceptional though. He gave me so much, what I'm trying to transmit at Sassuolo".
