But the Sampdoria midfielder started his career playing in a role that didn’t showcase his qualities as he told Gazzetta dello Sport:”When I arrived at Pescara’s Primavera team coached by manager Giampaolo’s brother I played in a Tevez type role. But by moving me to the midfield, Oddo changed my life. I must confess i’ve been waiting for a selection to the national team, when they’re matches come close I always waited, hopeful for a call. Instead nothing. Maybe it’s normal since I left Uruguay when I was seventeen. It feels almost impossible to be called now, since it didn’t happen during the qualifiers, but I continue to have faith”
