One of the summer signing for Sampdoria, defender Lorenzo Tonelli returned to regular first time football with the Blucerchiati after some seasons as a backup in Napoli. The former Empoli centre-back discussed i Blucerchiati's moment in an interview with Sky Sport: "The game against Lazio was a matter of episodes, in the first half we managed to play good football and create them some problems. In the second half we started to hoof the ball rather than play it and that played to their advantage, but we kept believing until the end, even 2-1 down with two minutes to go".
"We have not expressed our selves to our best - continued Tonelli - we have to set a goal for ourselves and, in my opinion, our goal should be reaching Europe, or at leat be in the conversation, because we have the potential to do so. We should try and reach it".
The defender was also asked about his coach Giampaolo, whome he rejoined after Empoli with: "He is a scrupoulos caoch, I like his way of working. The fact that he wanted me here is cause of pride to me. Quagliarella? He is a great professional. He is a great role model, playing with him is a good thing for a defender, because he can help you improve".
