A ruling by the FIGC, announced today, will force Massimo Ferrero to forfeit the role of president of the club. In response, Sampdoria has released its own statement about the decision: "With respect the announcement by the FIGC regarding the sentence of the Livingston case in 2009 as the cause of the ruling to forfeit, up to the exclusion of sporting matters, of the presidency of Massimo Ferrero, U.C. Sampdoria confirms that the decision is unjust and incorrect, and the punishment is inappropriate." The formal gestation of the club will need to be handed over, in matters not involving sporting decisions, but in representation within the league. The names being considered are of Vanessa Ferrero, the president's daughter, and his grandson Giorgio, both already contributing to the club administration.
