The pursuit by Juventus of Fabio Quagliarella as an addition to ther attack was dealt a setback with the striker posting on Instagram a message of dedication to Sampdoria: "If you give a lot and receive even more back, if every time you feel the emotion that beats within your chest, that means that there are stronger bonds than anything, which go beyond longing courtships, and go beyond the headlines and respect history, I think, live and play in this manner. #ForzaSamp." The "courtship" referenced could indicate interest from Juventus, whose offers of only a six month-deal were in contrast with Quagliarella's demands for a year and a half deal, creating a difficult objective for the bianconeri.
The financial hurdles are also enlarged with the promise of an year extension with Sampdoria, which would mean a one million euro payment for damages which Juventus would not be willing to make to release him. Those hurdles, combined with the will of the player, further complicate the deal. The exclusion of Quagliarella from the Inter match was not tied to the transfer market, both the player and coach Ranieri both seem to be in a state of calm.
