After a rocky first season with his new club and new coach, Nicola Murru has gained a place as a regular in Sampdoria's starting eleven. The left-back, inteviewed by La Gazzetta dello Sport, told how he could turn things around in the space of a season: "I feel that the club and coach Giampaolo have faith in me. I have improved and I am more confident now. Last year I didn't play with continuity. It was my first season here, I had to settle to the new club and I made mistakes that cost us points"
The former Cagliari defender also described his relationship with Marco Giampaolo and the team's goals for this season: "There is an anecdote that epitomizes my relationship with the coach: he showed me the clip of the goal that Dzeko scored against us last season and explained to me how I did a mistake. But then he boosted my confidence playing me in the next game. Europa League? We are more compact and solid than last year, but at the same time we have players upfornt that can score. Quagliarella? He gets better with age. He is smart, that gives him a huge boost".
