With the season officially over, Sampdoria are looking to the future with the knowledge Claudio Ranieri is leaving.
President Ferrero recently acknowledged he did everything he could to keep the former Leicester manager, but now his first choice is to bring back Marco Giampaolo.
The initial contacts were positive, Giampaolo previously coached at Sampdoria for three season and is held in high regard.
