Sagna:”Benevento represents heart & soul at a time when football is only business”

The official announcement arrived a few minutes ago, after playing for Manchester United and Arsenal, Bacary Sagna is heading to Benevento. The newly promoted club convinced the French international despite interest from Schalke, Besiktas, Olympiakos and Malaga- Sagna explained his decision in an interview with Footballfancast:”In the last few months I had offers from the top leagues like England, France, Spain, Turkey, MLS and also Italy. But they wouldn’t have been the right decision for myself and my family. I didn’t pick Benevento for financial reasons, I could have picked other clubs for that since they made me substantial offers. In the last few years my career was at the highest levels, but now Benevento offered me the chance to represent the underdogs and play in a club with such a beautiful history. At a time that football has become a business, Benevento represents the heart and soul of what a football team should be”
