Italy was in is past, and "why not ?", in his future. After his experience on Roma's bench, Rudi Garcia has now been working with OM: he keeps every door open, and, speaking to La Gazzetta dello Sport, tells about his experience as the giallorosso coach: "Roma has never been a springboard to me, I never felt the need to coach a top club. Offer from Juve? I received some offers but I was really well at Roma. Who knows, I might return to Italy?".
Rudi Garcia could bring Italy to him though. How? Getting Mario Balotelli, whose contract is ending with Nice and that the current Marseille coach likes very much. "I can't talk about the transfer window. Mario is a great player, one of the best in Italy. I want to bring my team back to the Champions League, and in order to do so you need great players. Balotelli is one of them and he's never had behavior issues in France".
From Italy to the Azzurri, Garcia has then commented the new era of the Nazionale, that starts back from Super Mario and Mancini: "Roberto is the right man to start over but there's something not working in Serie A. Hard to say what, I couldn't tell. In France, clubs recruit players in form and get them to play well in their team even if, once they've reached their potential, it's hard to keep them. Even so, there are great players abroad like Varane, Griezmann, Pogba, Kanté and many more that carry the name up of our country. We can now aim to a victory in World Cup".
"What matters isn't keeping the players but making them start in the high levels..." has continued Garcia, questioned about what's the priority to get a strong azzurro group. He hasn't any doubts: "Give space to youngsters. Losing a consolidated group like Juventus's with their defenders won't be easy but it's now necessary. I'd make an exception for Buffon, a true champion. He'll do fine even at PSG, you'll see!".
