Yesterday evening, Wayne Rooney had a farewell match from the English national team at Wembley against the United States. To salute the fans, he entered the match in the 58th minute with the captain's armband and the #10 on his back, 15 years after he made his debut. He has made 120 appearances for England. After the match he spoke to Sky Sports about his difficult rapport with Jose Mourinho: "In a football player's career there are moments where you think, 'am I good enough?'. This happened to me when Mourinho would leave me on the bench, I believed I was training well but I didn't have the chance to demonstrate it. In February we were winning the league cup and during the match Mourinho came close to me and said: 'I want you to raise the cup'. I thought to myself: 'but I didn't even play a single minute!'. He was determined and in the end I raised the trophy. In those moments I began to think that I must absolutely leave Manchester United."
