Roma takes a loss away against Atalanta in a game that is currently having serious repercussions on the current Serie A standings. As the ‘giallorossi’ lose ground on Juventus, Luciano Spalletti evaluates the game. Sky Sport reports:
"I didn’t expect such a drop in our performance during the second half. Especially considering how well things were going in the first 45 minutes. We created the ideal scenario to win. We ended up sitting too deep, lowering our work output. This past week we worked really well in training, I was really satisfied with what we had achieved".
Spalletti tries and decipher the reason for the loss: "Salah and Perotti needed to be substituted, they weren’t able to hold the ball anymore. When you lose it’s always the coaches fault. After I made the changes the score didn’t change, our biggest mistakes came from our buildup play. Had we been able to play the ball how we like to, on the ground with a high defensive line, then we could have done better. However when the match becomes a battle, we’re not good. It doesn’t help that we committed some careless mistakes”.
