Spalletti and Roma are ready play Czech side Viktoria Plzen in what will be a very important game for qualification. The Roma coach spoke ahead of the fixture in his press conference. First order of business: A comment on the injured players:
“Vermaelen is doing well, we’re satisfied with his recovery. Totti? In todays training he will increase the intensity, but he’ll be doing it separate from the group. We’ll evaluate his progress, I still don’t know if I’m calling him up”.
He also goes back to discuss the teams recent loss in Serie A: “After the Atalanta match the lads were disappointed. I want the fans to know that there’s no unstable chaos inside the locker room. There’s lots to work on, we need to stop focusing on things like contracts and shift our attention to our downfalls. The team itself is motivated. Often times matches are decided by minor details, unfortunately we paid the price by lacking attentiveness”.
On Europa League: “We can definitely aim to qualify. All objectives are important; all our fixtures are as well. This is one of those games we have to win, just like the one coming up on Sunday. We want to make our way back up in Serie A. We have the time, we just need to work with serenity. Strootman? He may play, it depends on how he feels both physically and mentally. On Sunday I noticed he was a bit slow in reading the game. Physically he was excellent, he ran the most out of everyone”.
