In the summer, he had been welcomed amid general skepticism by most Roma fans (he arrived to the Giallorossi after Radja Nainggolan had transferred to Inter), but now, Davide Santon, is making them change their mind. Returning from a poor season with Inter, the defender was used on the right flank by Eusebio Di Francesco last match and - especially in the derby won against Lazio - he has guaranteed that he will give his all, returning to proper form. On his new adventure in Rome, Santon spoke to the Sky Sport microphones.
"Who gives the final answers is always the player who is on the field. When I arrived, three months ago, I was greeted with skepticism. In Rome, we always talk about football, so I heard what was said about my arrival and the sale of Nainggolan. Roma, have given me so much confidence - for me it represents a restart in my career. When I chose to come here, I did it because I had to redeem myself and make many people change their minds. And, frankly, I think the fans are also right to be skeptical: I am coming off a bad season, but here I want to get back into the game".
The Giallorossi sporting director Monchi was fundamental for the arrival of Santon to Roma.
"I had already had contacts with him when he was at Sevilla. Monchi trusted me, if I'm here it's about him and I have to thank him. A bit like Mourinho, who I will always thank, I will do the same with Monchi, with Di Francesco, with my teammates, and with this society. The latest victories have been important, now we must aim to get even higher and try to win something. I hope to stay here for a long time".
