Javier Pastore has always had a passion for football. In an interview with Roma, he touched on a bunch of topics regarding the sport, starting with his idol: "Without a doubt when I was young it was Batistuta. At that moment he played for the national team, In Italy he was scoring a lot and they only spoke of him. I had his poster in my room, when I came to Roma, my dad gave me his shirt as a gift, it was something beautiful."
His career in Europe started at Palermo: "They came to observe my performances for two months. For me it was a dream to play in Europe. It was extraordinary, they convinced me right away. I didn't think twice. I accepted at the first possibility. PSG? It was a great experience. I arrived to a team that was completely different than the one I came from. I saw the club grow along with me, they made huge steps forward in the media, they renovated their sporting center and stadium, everything got better. We won a lot of titles and I left good memories with the French fans and people: this is the most important thing."
Now, Pastore is with Roma, even though he went through a tough start: "The adventure started well and I was very enthusiastic to play here. Then unfortunately I was hurt a few times and then there was the injury in the derby. I lost the faith of the manager, because I was never on the field."
After the first season new manager Fonseca arrived: "I had a lot of things in my head. The club was going through major changes and it was all an interogative period for me. From the first minute the club said the change in manager would be good for everyone. In the first training sessions I demonstrated that I wanted to change everything from what was a bad year, for my part and for the team's. The coach was always very honest, he showed to have faith in me. He asked me to forget what happened before, to train at 100%. He managed things well."
