After suffering three consecutive defeats across all competitions, there is a disappointing mood amidst all Roma staff and players. Luciano Spalletti and the team are now going through a very delicate situation. The president, James Pallotta, spoke to Sirius Xm FCx:
“I saw the game against Lyon. What’s frustrating is that we played well and created chances, but I feel like we ran out of gas. Some players have had to play a whole bunch because of injuries, but also because last summer we made some mistakes in the transfer market”.
Pallotta believes it’s time to make some space for the youth: “We need to change our approach with youngsters in order to give the starters more rest. With 5 minutes left Kevin Strootman wasn’t running back anymore despite being a warrior. Against Napoli, before the game, I didn’t have a good feeling about the lineup. We put on Salah with 30 minutes left, and with him we created a lot. Perhaps had he come on earlier, things could have changed. Even Spalletti admitted that we ran out of gas against Lyon”.
A final comment on the relationship with Nike: “To be honest, I’m not happy with the deal we have at the moment. We need to improve things”.
