Roma director of football Monchi analysed in an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport his first six months in the Italian capital: "When I said to my friends and family that I was coming here in Rome they thought I was crazy. But I'm not. I chose Roma because I knew I could have been myself here. I am a director that likes to be close to the team and the coach, this way you can know them better. I immediately understood Di Francesco, he never tries to hide. He has three major qualities: he knows Roma, he puts intensity in his work and he always looks at you in the eyes. He's not afraid of telling something negative to a player, but he does it in the right way. With Totti I have a really close relationship, I would have never imagined that. It wasn't easy for him to embrace such a new and different role, especially after 27 years, but the club gave him time to accept it and he did".
Monchi's intentions are clear:"I'm here to win something" and about Scudetto he says: "Why shouldn't we talk about it? We're not the favourite but we must try.
