Roma's official website communicated that the club and Umberto Gandini have mutually agreed to terminate their contract early. The note reads in part: "The club would like to thank Mr Gandini for his hard work and the results achieved during his time as the club’s chief executive, and hope he finds a new challenge as soon as possible."
Gandini thanked Roma for the opportunity: "Given the results we have achieved and the life choices I am preparing to take, I believe that my time with Roma has come to a natural end and have decided, in accordance with the club, to bring forward the conclusion of my contract. I would like to thank president Jim Pallotta for the opportunity he has given me. Rome and Roma represent a fundamental stage in my career – a period of growth that I will always carry with me.I would also like to thank the entire Board of Directors, management and all the staff, who welcomed me and supported me: from those whose daily efforts have contributed to on-field successes and taken the club to the upper echelons of European football, to the those who have helped to enhance the Giallorossi brand and allowed us to sign partnership agreements without precedent in the history of AS Roma."
