Roma reached the quarterfinals of the Europa League following their 2-1 win against Shakhtar Donetsk in the second leg thanks to a brace by Borja Mayoral. After the match, the giallorossi's manager Paulo Fonseca spoke to Sky Sport:"It was important to get off to a good start and not give up a goal in the first thirty minutes. I believe we defended week in the first half and were dangerous on the counter, Roma had never won here and we are glad to have qualified to quarterfinals"
Fonseca was asked about other Italian teams struggling in European competitions:"We demonstrated that we can adapt to Italy and Europe. In these competitions you have more space to play, all the teams needs to win. Italian managers are very good, Inter got to the final last year, so it's only a coincidence that I'm a foreigner and qualified. Balance is important not just in football, but also in life, I try to transmit this balance to my players"
