The post match-comments from Roma's coach described a group "devastated" after were given a highly debatable penalty given against them in the closing moments of the match against Borussia Mönchengladbach. Speaking after the Europa League match to Sky, Fonseca smiled but revealed the bitter feeling left by the result:
"It's difficult to accept a situation like this. The players are devastated, especially since we faced the first place team in the Bundesliga. We had the match continuously under control. It's hard to accept the situation. Football is like this: we must recover right away, we know that we played a good match. These players deserved a different result.
Mancini is a fighter, I think he played a terrific match. It wasn't easy, but he played a great match. Could he play there against Milan? We'll see, the reality is that we don't have many other options. When will Under be back? I think he'll return in a few days, we don't know if he'll be ready for Milan. Pastore? It's not easy for him to play back-to-back matches, we know that he's had problems in the past, we will manage it. Who is Dzeko's backup? I was thinking I could play, but I was a defender. The only possibility is Zaniolo, but we won't have a lot of opportunities."
