Roma are set to make their debut in the 2019-20 Europa League season, as the Giallorossi will host the Turkish side Basaksehir at the Olimpico on Thursday. Coach Fonseca discussed the club's ambition in realtaion to the European competition and the fitness of his squad in the pre-match press conference:
"Europa League is an important tournament and we want to go as far as possible. I am thinking about making some changes but in the right way, in order to reach our goal and win the game. We are in good shape, we slowed down in the final minutes against Sassuolo but I think that is related to the fact that many players returned from the mid-week games with the national teams. Pellegrini played a great match as a trequartista but he can play in many roles, as can Zaniolo. Having [versatile] players like them it's a good thing for us. Kalinic? He is improving but he is not ready to play a full game yet".
