Edin Dzeko has given an interview to the German newspaper Kicker about his and Roma's current forms. The Bosnian striker hasn't scored in five games in a row but doesn't want to be made fun of like he used to: "I accept the critics from the insiders in football, but a lot of people judge without understanding; these are the critics I ignore. I didn't do well during my first year because City didn't make me play during the summer retreat since they knew I would leave. I could have left Roma after this first year but I'm not someone who gives up. In football everything is too "black" or too "white": if Messi or Ronado don't score for two games, something that almost never happens, people talk about crisis. We aren't robots".
He then talks about his relationship with Roma fans: "The fans here are really fanatics and sometimes football has an exaggerated importance. In the meantime, playing in front of them gives you an enthusiasm and stimuli. Totti's farewell has been moving, I was about to cry because it's a football legend that stopped playing. It was the right moment to stop though, he knows it. It's hard to go unnoticed in Rome but you live well here, my wife and kids also like it here".
Like was said above, Dzeko hasn't scored in 5 games but the right moment to score is arriving, with the derby against Lazio planned on the 18th of November: "It's impossible to understand it if you haven't lived it, it's the most beautiful thing in life for fans. The derby will be better now that the fans' protests are over, these games in a half empty stadium were sad. This year the league is going at a higher level but Juventus remain the favorite. I feel better than ever, I still have a couple years to bring the Scudetto to Roma and repeat the successes I've had with City and Wolfsburg. VAR is a bit strange because you have to wait after a goal, not knowing if you could celebrate or have the referee review the action. We must get used to it, but don't need to over-use it".
