After the injury to Roma right back Rick Karsdorp, at Eusebio Di Francesco's press conference on Friday, there were many questions surrounding the many injuries suffered by players of the giallorossi in the last several years. The coach responded to those questions: "We are looking to come up with answers to understand the various problems. We have great professionals working here and we want to figure out how to not have this happen any more. We need to work on preventing injuries to our young players. We must find more methods and practices to make this not so much of an issue. We are a team, [director of performance Darcy] Norman and [head performance coach Ed] Lippie are two fantastic professionals who are at the training facility from morning until night. We will look at finding solutions together. There is a lot of conversation happening around this, we have a way of working here all together, for my part I have a lot of trust in the work of these people. The players have a lot of trust in us, but there is a lot of unhappiness."
Di Francesco also discussed several players on the squad: "Defrel needs to score a goal, we all need him to. He has given up a lot for this team, he has always made himself available and he will be repaid. I don't know who will play at center forward, we will decide based on the match. We are considering everyone's condition and we are thinking about the match with Chelsea too. Dzeko? Even when not at his best he is always dangerous. Nainggolan? Having him out there is important, I am convinced he will get back to scoring goals."
