Roma continues their aggressive push for an attacking player in the transfer window and the situation around their targeting of Gregoire Defrel continues to develop. The first offer has been submitted to Sassuolo, which has been turned down. Sassuolo's president Squinzi values the player at around €22m, while Roma's offer was a deal for a €15-18m purchase option with a year and a half loan, plus a player (Marchizza or Tumminello). Defrel, who hasn't asked to be moved, is nonetheless attracted to a move to Roma. However, an offer from Marseille has come in too. Sassuolo isn't considering other offers without discussing it with the player. Another option has emerged, Benjamin Stambouli from Schalke is being sought by Roma, but since the player has already played with two teams this season, including with PSG in the French Super Cup, he might not be eligible for the squad. That idea is fading, but Roma continues its search.
