Roma is making a deal to lock up Roger Ibanez, a priority of Tiago Pinto after the transfer market was to secure the club's young standouts, and the first appears to be all completed. Roma has extended the defender's contract until 2025, adding a year to his existing deal.
Ibanez will earn €1.2m pers season net as a fixed base salary, with bonuses that could reach a maximum of €1.7m net. In addition the deal contains a buyout clause of €80m. The sum is an important figure testifying to the club's belief in the player and also in their overall personnel strategy. Friedkin and Tiago Pinto are looking to keep hold of their young jewels and make it more difficult for other clubs to poach them. The insertion of the buyout clause is a new adoption by the club, and an indication perhaps of a new way of doing business.
