This morning football fans woke up to the surprising news that Daniele De Rossi will be leaving Roma at the end of the season after the club decided not to extend his contract. The giallorossi’s captain took questions from journalists at a press conference to discuss the development:”I would make different decisions on a daily basis, maybe less red cards or something like that. But regarding my decision to stay loyal to this club I wouldn’t change a thing, With a magic wand I would put more throphies in our case. Over the years the fans showed me they cared about me. I never swapped them for a hypothetical trophy. I had 3/4 years to go to a club where I could have won more than at Roma, but we picked each other”
De Rossi was offered an immediate role as a director at Roma, he explained his decision to pass on the opportunity:”Regarding my future, I thank the executive director and also Massara, who always showed me affection and esteeem. I still feel like a player and I still want to play football. I think. I would do myself a big disservice if I stopped now”.
