Gigi Buffon is ready to get back on the pitch on the European stage after the 3-match ban following the events in the game against Real Madrid last season. The keeper, now at PSG, will make his cupdebut with the French side against an opponent that he knows very well, Napoli, in the competition that spurs him to do his best, as he revealed in an interview with Sky Sport:
"Obsessed by winning the Champions League? That's not right, nor positive. Champions League for me is something that spurs me more than anything else. But it is also an opportunity that I am being given by life and my talent, even now that I am 40".
"When the news that I would have kept playing spread, many clubs contacted me. I could have chosen for 'my' Parma, or for Genoa which I supported when I was a child. I would have also liked to play for Lazio, the Biancocelesti supportes always treated my as a champion. Micheal Oliver? If I were Oliver and I met Buffon I would joke about what happened, irony is the best way to break walls. The "trash bin" quotes? Well, I lost it. I didn't know what to say and my Tuscan spirit from Carrara came out", concluded Buffon.
