Goalkeeper Pepe Reina played his last game with a Napoli shirt against Crotone, as he will say goodbye to the Partenopei at the end of his contract to join Milan. Together with his teammates, he was the protagonist of an exciting season, but the 91 points they got during the campaign were not enough to surpass Juventus. "Juventus won the title in the game against Inter. They were better than us, not only on the pitch. They are a powerful club, maybe only Milan and Inter have the same power in Italy. The years at Napoli were wonderful, both from a footballing and human point of view. I met wonderful people and we were so close to reaching our dream. Naples won't get rid of me so easily, I will travel here very often. Why do I leave? I can understand the club's choice of not extending the contract of a 36-year old goalkeeper. It's their philosophy and I have to respect it. My relationship with the board was not so idyllic anymore. Milan? I feel they appreciated me and I believe that preparing to saying goodbye in one of the most successful clubs in the world is a great fulfillment for me".

Finally, the Spaniard talked about the coaches he has had during his stint at Napoli: "Benitez is my mentor, he gave me the chance to getting to know Naples. Sarri? Our relationship went beyond football. He put himself on the line for me and I will always be grateful to him. He was father-like in his approach to us, I wish him all the good things that such a man can deserve".
