Alexandre Pato collected 150 caps and 63 goals in five years with the ‘rossoneri’. Not a bad collection of stats for the young Brazilian, who perhaps had his growth halted by a series of injuries. Pato returned to speak about his time with Milan in an interview with Fox Sports:
‘The Milan I was a part of always had ties with Berlusconi. From the day I arrived to the day I left the president never changed. He was always a gentleman, treating me extremely well, even when I asked to return to Brazil. Without him everything will change, but the Milan image will always remain associated with the Berlusconi name’.
On Ancelotti: ‘If it wasn’t for him, I never would have joined Milan. I’d like to see him again. If I ever succeeded in top flight football it’s all thanks to Ancelotti. He was like a father for me, he made me feel at home from day one’.
A back story on his old team mates: ‘In the locker rooms my spot was between Maldini and Ronaldo, while Kakà was in front of me. One of my first days I remember Ronaldo showing me a playboy magazine, asking me if I wanted to be part of his group, or if I wanted to join Kakà’s group, who had some religious objects in the locker room’.
Final comment on his new experience with Villareal: ‘I’m finding everything great here in Spain. After the time I Spent in Brazil, a return to Europe was my dream. I feel like I did in my early Milan days’.
