Former Atalanta and current Sevilla forward Papu Gomez gave an interview to SkySport, the Argentine discussed the hurtful and complicated separation from the nerazzurri. Still lacking explaination for the circumstances around his exit, Papu discussed: "I am still trying to understand how this all happened, I know I am not to blame, because things could not keep going as they were. I made the right decision."
The ties to Atalanta remain strong for Gomez: "If I think of Bergamo I become sad. I still get uncomfortable watching Atalanta. It hurts me to see my former teammates. I am happy for them because they are doing very well. I hope that as the months pass my feelings will change."
Papu also discussed the process of finding his next destination after becoming fully aware of the need to depart the club: "I had big offers from MLS and from Saudi Arabia, offers for lots of money. My first priority was Sevilla. I knew that people out there wanted me, but moving to certain countries is like disappearing. I am very proud to be here now."
