A new season has started at Trigoria and there is a lot of optimism surrounding this Roma squad. The President of Roma, James Pallotta, echoed that same optimism in a recent interview on the club's official Twitter account: "I’m feeling great. I love the team. They have fantastic character. We should be so much stronger in defense and it’s good to have Kevin (Strootman) back. Our goal was to strengthen our defense, which we accomplished. Unfortunately we’ve had a few injuries but hopefully they’ll be back soon and healthy. Our goal was also to integrate our new players we had bought earlier like Alisson and Gerson, and bring back players like Paredes: all in all, I am very happy.
Leaders in every aspect? That is what Spalletti wanted in his players, and so did I. We texted earlier this week, before the Porto game: Luciano loves this group. I was very happy with the team’s play in the Porto match: we looked super for the first 30 minutes and could have been up a few goals. It’s so difficult to play in that stadium with their crowd and to come out with a draw having played so long with 10 men…I couldn’t be prouder of the boys. De Rossi was everywhere and provide incredible leadership, especially with a man down. He’s in terrific shape."
“Passion? There is way, way more than there was on Day 1 of this project,” Pallotta concluded, “We learn from our mistakes and keep moving forward, we are getting there. I can’t wait for the first day in the stadium.”
