As anticipated from the Bild, in the autobiography of Mesüt Ozil, the German talent talks about a clash he had with the Portuguese coach. Mourinho supposedly claimed “We don’t need you, a couple passes aren’t enough to be good” as a way to challenge the lack of professionalism showed by Ozil in a match. The German player quickly responded “Take it, wear it, and good luck” as he threw his jersey to his coach's feet. Mourinho tried challenging him by saying : “Do you want to be alone, or do you want to prove to your team mates, me and the fans what you’re capable of?”.
Despite the clash, it was a story that Ozil explained with a smile on his face: “I hated him, though he was definitely fascinating from my perspective. I decided to go to Real Madrid because Mourinho fought to bring me there, whereas Guardiola didn’t make himself heard”.
