Despite playing in ten men, Napoli finds their ways and gets a much needed win against Crotone. It had been three losses in a row for Napoli across all competitions; Maurizio Sarri comments the game with Sky Sport:
‘The first signs of recovery were already evident on Wednesday. Sometimes in football a combination of things happen, which added to our mistakes made it impossible for us to win. Nonetheless our performance with Besiktas had convinced us we were on track’.
Napoli wins away, in ten men, the same day Crotone debuted their stadium: ‘We played a good game in difficult conditions. We played an hour in ten men so I’m happy for the lads, they gave themselves something to be proud of. Gabbiadini? He messed up, and unfortunately he will pay the price. It’s a shame because he was playing well, had he stayed on he could have done some good things as well. He’s quite the introvert, all this attention isn’t helping him’.
A nice surprise for Napoli was Amadou Diawara. He showed personality, technique, and maturity. ‘He did really well, but he’s still very young so I don’t want to compliment him. It’s been a difficult summer and we’ve made improvements, he’s now starting to fit in quite well. He shouldn’t be thinking about getting compliments, all he has to do is worry about getting better’.
