Following the European victory with the Spanish U21 squad, for which he was named the best player of the tournament, Fabian Ruiz was called up by the senior squad for their Euro 2020 qualifying matches against Romania and the Faroe Islands. "Seville is a city in which football is intensely lived, Betis and Seville have many fans. Napoli is similar, but it's bigger, has a larger population and all the people cheer for Napoli. There's only one squad and you notice it on the street and at every match. For them, Napoli is everything and for us, it's important to feel them close. At the beginning I was a little surprised to see 20 or 30 people stop me in the street, I wasn't used to that. But then I saw many similar things from Seville. I'd really like to win a title here and see the entire city celebrate with us.
"The club and my representatives are talking and I hope they reach an agreement. I was happy from the first minute I arrived here, it gave me a lot of confidence. It's a pleasure to be wanted by clubs like Real Madrid and Barcelona, but I always have said the same thing: I have another 4 years on my contract with Napoli and I'm very happy. The manager gives me security that every player needs."
