The transfer has been made public days after a final agreement was reached for Victor Osimhen. Napoli president De Lauerentiis and Osimhen tweeted their pleasure at the new acqisition. The involved deal sees a €70m payment from Napoli for Osimhen, of which Lille will pay a 5% solidarity payment to the former club leaving the final number they earn €66.5, plus an additional €10m bonus tied to difficult achievements in the Champions League, payable over five years. Osimhen will earn a salary of around €4m after taxes per season which rises over the final two years to €4.5m.
Lille and Napoli were also involved in a separate operation involving four other players. Goalkeeper Orestis Karnezis, and youth players Claudio Manzi, Ciro Palmieri, and Luigi Liguori will move to the French side. Lille is to pay Napoli €20m: therefore the total cash outlay by the Italian club is €50m gross (47.5 net).
