A transfer saga that nearly spanned two seasons. It all ended this summer with a move from Torino to Napoli. Nikola Maskimovic talked to Serbian news source 'Blic' about the transfer and his experience so far with his new club: "I was supposed to move to Napoli last year, but Torino didn't let me leave. My aim was to be at a more important club, regardless of who became the next Torino coach. I even told Mihajlovic about my decision to leave."
"There was never a discussion with the coach. Before my exclusion from the Coppa Italia match, I was expecting a phone call from Cairo to let me know what he had decided to do about the incoming offers he received for me. He didn't answer, so I left. Mihajlovic's comments do not interest me, I've moved on with my head held high. I chose Napoli because they were after me for a long time, and they are a club with important ambitions. They play in the Champions League and are consistently at the top of Italian football: I'm very satisfied with my decision."
