While Napoli’s offensive trio rightfully get a lot of praise, Kalidou Kolulibaly’s contributions have been very important to the team’s success. The central defender spoke to Il Mattino about the secrets to his improvements: ”I’m not sure if I’m a defender worthy of Barcelona. But I can say I have improved a lot, and the credit certainly goes to Sarri and all of his staff who gave me a lot of help. They told me I had defects, and to improve you need to receive criticism. Sarri always gave me feedback in a constructive manner. I listen to him a lot just like my teammates. It’s important to play next to Raul Albiol, a player who won a lot. He and the other defenders helped me a lot, they make me feel part of the family. And in a climate like this, everything is easier. It’s hard to adapt to Sarri’s style, which is about ball possession. It took me awhile to get used to it. At the beginning I didn’t play since I had difficulty learning all the movements. Francesco Calzone, Sarri’s top assistant, talked to me a lot since he knows movements well. After practices I stayed and he helped me. I thank them, they gave me a new vision of football. I think I became a different player”
