Napoli’s objective for the remainder of the season is to arrive in second place and achieve direct qualification into the Champions League. With respect to the transfer market, the club has recently received positive signals from Mertens: Napoli is optimistic about renewing the winger’s contract. A buyout clause is likely to be included into any potential agreement.
Napoli is also looking to purchase a fullback: Grimaldo, Benfica’s leftback, is liked by the club, but carries a hefty price tag. He is valued at around 20 to 25 million euros. It would not be a simple deal. Napoli is also looking to acquire a keeper: Szczesny (who has also drawn interest from Juventus), Skorupski, and Meret are players for whom the club has shown interest. Nonetheless, a renewal with Reina is also being discussed.
