Lorenzo Insigne recently caught up with Radio KissKiss in order to address a variety of topics from his current form to the team’s recent performances.
The Napoli winger began with his evaluation of the team which appears to have been struggling in recent matches. “We are human, and it is understandable that we sometimes make mistakes. I missed a penalty against Beskitas, and the other team members have made similar errors: the important thing is knowing how to recover,” claimed Insigne. In order to begin their comeback, Sarri’s team will play Udinese in two days: “we are energized more than ever, and ready to play a great match against an opponent who is in good form; however, that matters little, because we are Napoli and do not fear anyone. We will play to win with the understanding that we are a great team, but also that our opponent can create difficulties for us. We are creating a lot of chances, and we will fight to ensure that we give little to our opponents in the matches to come.”
It is difficult to deny that the Napoli winger has been less clinical with respect to last season, but Insigne jokes: “the problem is that I give assists to everyone, but no one gives them to me!” He then becomes more serious: “the important thing is that we remain calm, and that the team always wins. Reina could be the one to score for all I care.”
In conclusion, Insigne discusses the national team and his relationship with Mertens: “I am happy to have returned to the national team, and thank Ventura for the opportunity. He has an important project which includes many young players. Mertens? I get along with him on and off the field. The conflict is seen only by those who look in from the outside. The rotation is not dependent on us, but a decision for the manager.”
