Napoli is trying to make moves on the market as they are looking for reinforcements to contend with Juventus for the scudetto. Their absolute priority at the moment is Simone Verdi. They are hoping that a 20 million euro offer can tempt Bologna to part with the player, but even Verdi himself needs to be convinced to leave in January.
Another attacking name they are interested in is Matteo Politano. Today a meeting took place between the player's agent and current club Sassuolo, with the club saying that it is not possible for the player to leave now in January. Leaving in June is much more likely, but the player's entourage is looking to convince his club to be open to him leaving now. Napoli will try and tempt Sassuolo by including one of Tonelli or Maksimovic in the deal, sacrificing a defender for a much more pressing need: an attacking winger.
A new name that has recently come up is that of full-back Aleix Vidal of Barcelona. Once they solve the winger situation, Napoli will shift their attention to this move.
Moving on to Benevento's Cicretti, as reported earlier the player has chosen Napoli for June, and now the partenopei are just trying to see if Benevento will let him join in January. It could formalize as a loan for this portion of the season. Lastly, it is practically done for Machach. They last part of the negotiations are for the player's image rights.
