Napoli are focused on both outgoing and incoming moves in the early stages of the transfer window. Jorginho’s transfer to Manchester City is expected to be concluded shortly, the parties are negotiating the final details on the bonuses and the 5% to be given to the midfielder’s previous club. With Jorginho heading to the Premier League, Napoli will replace him with Fabian Ruiz who has been identified as ideal addition for midfield.
There haven’t been any updates on the Hamsik front, should he stay Ancelotti could use him in a new role where he would play in a more defensive position, which should be a less demanding position athletically.
Napoli are also focused on the keeper position since Pepe Reina has left to join Milan. Areola is De Laurentiis and Ancelotti’s top choice, but Paris St Germain would like to keep him so he can have Buffon as a mentor and sell Trapp instead. But Areola has yet to extend his contract that expires in 2019 which could force the club to sell him. As a precaution Napoli have made an inquiry for Petr Cech on an annual loan and will make another attempt for Alex Meret although Roma and Fiorentina are in the lead since they have been pursuing him for a while.
For the wing back position Stefan Lanier remains the top choice but Salzburg has yet to accept Napoli’s offer
